I don’t get it. Maybe I’m slow but I don’t understand why wearing camouflage is a problem at certain schools. Almost all the schools in St Lucie County allow students to wear camo, all but a few which includes my daughter’s middle school. I don’t understand.
I purchased a nice sturdy L.L. Bean blue camo back pack with the matching lunch box last school year for Erin. She used that back pack all of last year and no one said a word to her about it. This year I did buy her a new bag but it a satchel type and it ended up being too cumbersome for her when she rides her bike. She went back to using her camo back pack. One of the teachers pull her aside last week and told her that no camo of any kind or color is allowed in school.
What?
Why?
I don’t get it.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have stood up for the school board on many decisions that have not always made a parent’s job any easier but I was under the impression that St Lucie County was going to one dress code to be followed by all schools and they did. However they gave all the principals the privilege of ‘fine tuning’ the dress code as they saw fit. I perused several school web sites some referred back to the school board dress code and the magnet schools all but make the kids wear a uniform. The middle school my daughter is going to was one of only 2 or 3 schools in the whole county that strictly forbid camouflage or colors that were to bright was another one I read. Of course final judgment of what is too bright was left up to the school as are all the rules and they make you sign a form every year stating you agree to these rules.
Can you say Gotcha…………..
I’m not sure how I should approach this problem anyone with any good ideas on how I should handle this please share ……..
